Chapter One: Introduction
1.1 Background of the Study
Public trust is a cornerstone of democracy, especially in relation to the acceptance of electoral results. In Lafia Local Government, Nasarawa State, the level of public trust in the electoral process directly impacts how voters perceive and accept election outcomes. This study explores the connection between public trust and the acceptance of electoral results, focusing on the mechanisms that influence trust in the electoral system, such as transparency, fairness, and the credibility of electoral institutions (Aminu & Nasir, 2024).
